ZOWIE MiCO now available in pink and light blue

Copenhagen, January 20th 2012

Following the ZOWIE DIVINA we have received many requests from customers interested in the pink and light blue equipment that was developed exclusively for the ZOWIE DIVINA tournament. Following this interest, we have decided to release the ZOWIE MiCO in ZOWIE DIVINA colors, but first we’d like to use the opportunity to provide some basic information regarding the development of this mouse.

Background story:
The ZOWIE MiCO was developed specifically for RTS-gaming in close cooperation with the Korean powerhouse, StarTale, which is why we featured this mouse at the ZOWIE DIVINA.

Working with StarTale on the development of the ZOWIE MiCO, nothing was left to chance. StarTales demands for the development of this mouse was very specific down to even the smallest details.

Shape
The shape of the MiCO was designed by filming and photographing the hands of players Ace, Rainbow, Bomber, Squirtle and July during their gaming sessions. Several mockups were then created using these results, and details to the design were fine-tuned following the overall feedback provided by the players.

The perfect click
The clicking in the ZOWIE MiCO is clear and firm, as specifically directed by the players. The players expressed a very specific demand regarding the click-feel of the mouse:

  • Responsive to easy clicking/light pressure
  • Upon clicking, button should only travel a short distance before responding
  • Provide a clear, firm clicking, so you can feel all of your clicks

The sensor
The sensor was one of our biggest challenges for the ZOWIE MiCO, because we had much trouble finding a sensor that would fit our requirements to quality, stability and performance, while allowing us to lower the lift-off distance with a custom ZOWIE lens and still maintaining the DPI-levels at 400 and 800 DPI as StarTale were custom to.

It was a challenge, but with about six months delay, we found the PixArt sensor that is used in the ZOWIE MiCO.

Miscellaneous
The ZOWIE MiCO features smaller feet than our EC and AM mice, because StarTale expressed a need for less friction, thus allowing them to make quicker movements with their hands.

The cord is the same as on both the EC and the AM; sturdy, yet very flexible, so it doesn’t get caught on the table or in other situations where it is difficult to drag back.

To summon it up:
The ZOWIE MiCO was designed to be a small, lightweight ambidextrous mouse, perfect for gamers who demand ultimate performance from their mice and prefer the claw-grip playing style. Nothing was left to chance, and as with all of our other products, the ZOWIE MiCO is designed to look simple, yet stylish, with its true qualities shining through its flawless performance.
